Whirlpool vs. LG Appliances

Is Whirlpool or LG Better?

Founded in the U.S., Whirlpool has been a very well-known and trusted household name when it comes to washing machines. Over the years the company has expanded to such an extent that they sell a huge variety of appliances under different brand names.

LG has also been around for quite some time and just about everyone on the planet knows the South Korean “Life’s Good” brand. They make an array of things to make life easier, such as kitchen appliances, TVs, computers, and vacuums.

So how do they compare? From the vast range of appliances, we’ve chosen four kitchen units to compare.

LG Washing Machines vs. Whirlpool Washing Machines

Even though Whirlpool has been around longer, these two brands really come close in quality, performance as well as price.

LG takes the lead in terms of technology with the Smart ThinQ app which helps you to maintain your washer. Even though it is only Android compatible, it still gives it an edge with the Tag-On technology.

The LG is definitely a quieter option with its LoDecibel Quiet Operation, if that is something that bothers you. It also has settings like Easy Iron and Reduce Static and makes use of moisture sensing technology to prevent damage to your clothes.

The Whirlpool has Wrinkle Shield Plus, making it a close competitor.

Overall, LG and Whirlpool washers are both a great buy even in terms of pricing. LG washers will cost you anything between $750 and $1,800 on Best Buy, depending on which model you choose. For a Whirlpool, you can expect to pay from $650 to $1,300 at Queen City Online. Free standard warrantee is applicable for Whirlpool and LG washers.

LG Fridges vs. Whirlpool Fridges

When it comes to refrigerators, LG and Whirlpool both offer a variety of options like the side-by-side refrigerator, bottom freezer or top freezer. LG has the more elite option of the Instaview Door-in-Door where you can see your food, so be sure to keep it organized and clean.

This state-of-the-art refrigerator can cost you between $3,299 and $7,199. LG does however offer more affordable fridges from around $629 directly from LG.

Whirlpool’s French Door fridge has auto-humidity crispers and a freeze-shield option and has more shelf space than its other family members. This beautiful French Door refrigerator costs $4,199.

The Top-Freezer refrigerator has frameless glass shelves as well as LED interior lighting. One of these will cost you around $1,250 at Whirlpool’s online store.

LG Wall Ovens vs. Whirlpool Wall Ovens

LG and Whirlpool do not disappoint with their wall oven options and they are yet again head-to-head in this race. They both offer double wall and single wall options and Whirlpool offers a wall oven with a built-in microwave, saving you some counter space with this all-in-one unit.

The LG Smart Wi-Fi enabled double wall oven can be purchased for $3,239 from the LG store. The LG Studio with an adjustable gilding rack system is more affordable at $1,899.

At Whirlpool you can find the smart wall oven with scan-to-cook technology for $3,499; and enjoy guided cooking, a touch screen and voice control with a compatible voice-enabled device.

For something a little more affordable there is also the Single Wall oven with the FIT system for only $1,399. Even though it’s less expensive, it still has adjustable self-cleaning technology, hidden baking element and a keep warm setting.

LG Dishwashers vs. Whirlpool Dishwashers

It’s been said that LG dishwashers have "stellar drying and stain removal abilities." LG offers front control and top control dishwashers, and their stylish, fresh and sleek looks gives any kitchen a modern touch. You can get a Front Control Dishwasher with QuadWash for $649 and for about $100 more you can have the Wi-Fi enabled option.

Whirlpool on the other hand offers the same two options, as well as the Third Rack and Portable Dishwashers. The Portable Dishwasher has a Soil Sensor and a High Temperature wash option and costs $764 from Whirlpool.

The smart dishwasher with Third Level Rack is Wi-Fi enabled and has remote start and a plastic items cycle option. Although there have been negative reviews for this unit, because of the tight space, there have been even more positive reviews saying it is a fantastic machine. This sleek washer comes in Fingerprint Resistant Sunset Bronze and costs $880 at Whirlpool.

Final Notes

So, from all the information we’ve managed to gather, it would seem that you can’t really go wrong with either of these two brands. LG and Whirlpool offer appliances of extremely high standards in quality and performance.
